October Sky Festival, Oliver Springs

Well, this festival was a wet and soggy one indeed.  We got soaked to the skin on Friday, packed up early because the ground was so soggy we were ankle deep in water and mud. Day two, Saturday, it was cold and cloudy, but no rain.  Sales were slow to nothing on Friday and by noon on Saturday, we had taken in $3. Then around 2 p.m. another face painter swooped in with a bigger sign, set up closer to the entrance point, and grabbed a lot of kids, then swooped back out around 3:30.  There was supposed to be kid's activities, i.e. a climbing wall, beyond where we were set up, but they never showed up.  I was supposed to be the only face painter.  I don't want to judge this show by what the weather might have affected, but it's not one I will put on my calendar for next year unless I'm desperate for punishment.

Cleveland Apple Festival

The Cleveland Apple Festival, in Cleveland, Tennessee is a very busy event. This year, it was rather windy, cloudy, and cold.  The people still came out, but our sales were down.  I had to wear gloves to paint faces!  Kids were bundled in their jackets, hoodies, knit caps, and mittens.  Here's a picture of one little dalmation.  I didn't get her name, but she was a cutie. Next stop, this weekend at Oliver Springs October Sky Festival, then to Dayton, Tennessee, on October 30, 31 at their Pumpkin Festival.

Allardt Pumkin Festival

The festival to beat all small town festivals!  This was our first time in Allardt, Tennessee.  We signed up and was very impressed.  I must have painted every child in the county....twice.  My line didn't stop from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  I was famished and exhausted.  But, I had lots of fun meeting kids and their parents.  A nicer bunch of people I've never met.  The children in this community were well behaved, mannerly, and cute to boot!!!  Oh yeah, and the pumkins are HUGE!   Here's George (Yo Yo) playing with his balloons.
